Disgraced sprinter Tim Montgomery dealt heroin
Disgraced American sprinter Tim Montgomery has confessed to dealing heroin, only two months after he was imprisoned for fraud and conspiracy.
Montgomery admitted to having more than 100 grams of heroin in his possession and agreed that he had intended to distribute the drug.

Welsh boxer Joe Calzaghe gives up WBC super-middleweight belt
Welsh boxer Joe Calzaghe has decided to give up his WBC super-middleweight title so he is eligible to face Roy Jones Jr at light-heavyweight later this year.
The Newbridge fighter chose to relinquish the title rather than defend it against Carl Froch.

Tennis star Andy Murray looks forward to US hard courts
Scottish tennis star Andy Murray is looking forward to playing well on the American hard courts later this summer, and thinks he is going to make a very impressive performance at the US Open.
"I feel more comfortable playing on the American hard courts," Murray explained.

Bernie Ecclestone says the British Grand Prix goes to Donington
Formula One Supremo Bernie Ecclestone has backed the relocation of the British Grand Prix from Silverstone to Donington in Derbyshire from 2010 onward in a 10-year deal.
Silverstone had staged the race since 1987 and the British Racing Drivers' Club, who had negotiated the new arrangement, owns it.

Rabobank must pay compensation to Michael Rasmussen
Rabobank has been ordered to pay Michael Rasmussen more than half a million pounds compensation because of how it sacked him from its 2007 Tour de France team.
The 34-year-old Danish cyclist was removed from the race by his Dutch team on 25 July because he had lied about his whereabouts when he was wanted for doping tests. But now a Utrecht judge ruled that whilst Rabobank was entitled to dismiss him, it had followed the wrong procedure for doing so.

Boxer Wayne McCullough might return to the ring
Irish boxer Wayne McCullough, who is a former world bantamweight champion could make a comeback to fighting and he has announced that rumours about him retiring were premature.
37-year-old McCullough from Belfast had started the reports after he faced Juan Ruiz in the Cayman Islands on 20 June and had said: "I think this is my last fight."

England's Andrew Flintoff won't play against South Africa
England cricket all-rounder Andrew Flintoff will not be included in the selection for the first Test against South Africa on 10 July.
It was decided that it was too early for Flintoff to be back in the action after his recovery from injury. An identical 12-man team to the one that was in the 2-0 series victory against New Zealand has been announced instead, with him left out.

Tennis star Jamie Murray reaches semi-finals
British tennis star Jamie Murray along with Liezel Huber carried on their mixed doubles success as they got through to the semi-finals by defeating second seeded players Daniel Nestor and Chia-Jung Chuang.
Scottish player Murray and South African Huber easily took a 5-1 lead in the first set and they made it to a 6-4 victory.

Cristiano Ronaldo sees Manchester United doctors
Football star Cristiano Ronaldo has been seeing Manchester United officials for the first time since he said he was thinking of leaving the team but he only met with the club's doctors to assess his recent ankle injury.
The meeting between Ronaldo and Manchester United doctors was held in Lisbon on Wednesday but they were unable to decide whether he will have an operation on his right ankle.
