Skier Bode Miller to quit US team
It has been reported by ski officials that Bode Miller will be leaving the United States team to become an independent sportsman.
Former World Cup champion Bode Miller, who is fast-approaching 30, decided on his course of action after meeting with ski team officials.
Tom Kelly, US Ski Association marketing and communications director explained it like this: "We don't know yet how he will organise his training and racing programme."
Bode Miller will from now on have to pay his own training and expenses.
Despite much success in the past Bode Miller had struggled at the 2006 Winter Olympics as well as last season's World Championships, and failed to take any medals.
In spite of some problems between Bode Miller and the American team and his decision to leave they will still support him in the immediate future.
"Bode decided to go independent but we will continue to support him as much as we can considering his new situation," said Tom Kelly.
