Canadian skier John Kucera wins men's World Cup Super-G race
Canadian skier John Kucera won the opening men's World Cup Super-G race of the season at Lake Louise in Canada.
John Kucera, 22, was the first skier out of the gates and his time of one minute 29.70 seconds was not bettered.
John Kucera won the top position on the Whitehorn Mountain course beating Austrian skier Mario Scheiber by just 0.06 seconds and Swede Patrik Jaerbyn took third place.
John Kucera, whose previous best World Cup finish was 15th, has become the first Canadian to win at Lake Louise, and in fact, he was only the second Canadian to be victorious on home soil after Rob Boyd's downhill triumph in 1989.
American skiing star Bode Miller, who had won the Super-G at the Canadian resort in 2004, finished in 14th place in 1:31.03, and defending Lake Louise Super-G champion Aksel Lund Svindal from Norway claimed a 1:31.19 to finish in 19th position.
