British skier Finlay Mickel in World Cup 50mph crash
British downhill skier Finlay Mickel walked away safe from a 50mph crash during a World Cup super-G on Sunday.
The Scottish skier fell in poor visibility during the middle part of the race at Lake Louise in Canada.
Finlay Mickel was saved by the safety fence and suffered only minor injuries and will be fit for this weekend's races.
Finlay Mickel, who finished 19th in the downhill opener at the Canadian
resort on Saturday said: "I've a few bumps and bruises, but I'm really
lucky."
Finlay Mickel added: "The course was foggy and snow was falling. I
missed the proper line out of the turn because the light was bad and I
crashed.
"The next I knew I was in the safety fence and I took 10 metres of it away with me.
"Luckily, nothing was damaged but I did feel a little pain in an ankle which I hurt in Edinburgh two weeks ago."
