American skier Lindsey Vonn wins World Cup downhill
American skier Lindsey Vonn has claimed the women's World Cup downhill title when she took second place on the 2010 Olympic course in Whistler.
Lindsey Vonn, 23, was only 0.01 seconds behind Swiss skier Nadia Styger, who was the winner in a time of one minute 45.30 seconds, however, Lindsey Vonn scored high enough to secure the World Cup title with two races in the season to go.
A proud Lindsey Vonn said with enthusiasm: "This has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. I feel like my childhood dreams are coming true and you can't get any better than that. It's great to seal the deal with two races left. That's a big check off on my lifetime goals.
Lindsey Vonn, whose second place moved her to the top of the rankings with 1,063 points, is now going to focus on her bid for the overall World Cup crown.
