Great Britain's women curlers Olympic hopes fade fast
Great Britain's women curlers ability to hold on to their Olympic
curling title is in doubt after they were beaten 10-5 by the Japanese
side and now have just one group match left as the decider.
Debbie Knox, who holds a 2002 gold medal, replaced Jackie Lockhart who
wasn't on form, but it did not stop the errors made by the British
team.
Japan built a 6-1 lead by the halfway stage and although Britain
managed to get back four points, they now have to win their final match
and rely on their other results.
Rhona Martin's team play America at 1800 GMT on Monday in their final game.
Great Britain are now fifth in their group, and only the top four qualify.
The best that Rhona Martin's team can now look forward to is a deciding
tiebreaker on Tuesday although even that will be impossible to achieve
if Canada win just one more match.
Rhona Martin admitted the odds were now stacked against them.
"I would put our chances of qualifying at very low at the moment," said Rhona Martin.
