Siblings Sinead and John Kerr will represent Great Britain in figure
skating at the 2006 Winter Olympics. The pair of skaters from
Livingston in Scotland become the first athletes to be confirmed for
the Turin Games by the British Olympic Association.
Sinead and John Kerr are currently ranked 12th in the world and eighth
in Europe and have been British Champions for the last three years.
The Winter Olympics will be held in the Italian city between 10-26 February.
Keith Horton, general secretary of the National Ice Skating
Association, said: "The association is extremely proud to be sending an
ice dance couple to the Games.
"On behalf of all ice skating fans we look forward to watching their performances in Italy."
Other members of Team GB will be announced soon with the curling teams named on 22 December.
Chef de mission Simon Clegg said: "The BOA, all its athletes and winter
sports are working hard out on the winter sport circuits to qualify for
and to prepare for these Games.
"We wish Sinead and John well as they continue their final preparations
before the Turin Games, which promise to be a spectacular celebration
of winter sport."
