Team New Zealand sailors face Swiss Alinghi
Team New Zealand sailors will face defending champions Alinghi in the America's Cup, which begins in Valencia, Spain on Saturday.
Team New Zealand defeated Italy's Luna Rossa 5-0 to claim the Louis Vuitton Cup and qualify to compete for the America's Cup.
The best-of-nine series is a rematch of the 2003 contest, which Alinghi sailing syndicate from Switzerland won 5-0 in Auckland.
New Zealand captain Dean Barker said: "It was a terrible loss for the country."
Dean Barker will compete against compatriot sailor Brad Butterworth who was one of six sailors who decided to move to the Swiss team after the 2003 defeat.
Brad Butterworth said: "You could call it a rematch or you could just say these are the two best teams left in the cup."
Team New Zealand had to compete against 10 other teams in the series of challenger races that began in 2004.
Meanwhile Alinghi has been testing and training during the Louis Vuiton Cup challenger series, which was held from 16 April -12 June.
