Sailor Ben Ainslie to return to Olympic classes

benainslie Double gold medallist sailor Ben Ainslie is ready to make his return to Olympic classes at the test event for Beijing 2008 in China next month.

Ben Ainslie, 29, has been sailing for America's Cup outfit Team New Zealand but will be going back to the Finn class for the 18-31 August regatta in Qingdao.

Ben Ainslie has not raced the dinghy since his fourth Finn Gold Cup win in 2005.

Ed Wright, bronze medallist at this year's Finn Gold Cup, will be challenging Ben Ainslie for the one spot in Beijing.

"It's clear from the tight results at this year's Gold Cup that it's a pretty competitive class to sail in right now - both the Brits and the foreigners are improving all the time," said Ben Ainslie.

"That said, I'm really looking forward to getting back into Olympic sailing in the Finn at Qingdao next month, and seeing what the Chinese conditions throw at us," Ben Ainslie added.
