Russell Coutts to lead BMW Oracle for America's Cup
America's Cup winning captain Russell Coutts has agreed to lead BMW Oracle's next bid to win it, after being given the job by BMW Oracle's billionaire owner Larry Ellison.
New Zealander Russell Coutts is certainly the man for the job, having won the America's Cup three times already - with New Zealand in 1995 and 2000 and Swiss team Alinghi in 2003.
Russell Coutts has only been defeated once in 37 match races and has a very impressive 14-0 record in the America's Cup final.
"I wouldn't come into the role if I didn't think I'd do well," said Russell Coutts with confidence.
Russell Coutts, who will also be BMW Oracle's chief executive officer, is taking over the role from Chris Dickson, who left after the team were surprisingly beaten 5-0 by the Italian Luna Rossa in the semi-finals of the challenger selection series.
