Dutch yacht ABN Amro One wins in Volvo Ocean Race
The Dutch yacht ABN Amro One led the Volvo Ocean Race and won the fifth leg from Rio de Janeiro to Baltimore finishing at 1957 BST on Monday in a time of just over 15 days to complete the course of the race 16.5 miles (26km) ahead of second-placed Movistar.
ABN Amro One had been last after a headsail problem earlier on in the leg, but after New Zealand repairs skipper Mike Sanderson had his yacht again speeding ahead to win.
Mike Sanderson's team have now won four of the five legs and have four to go.
"It is awesome to have won this leg," said Mike Sanderson.
"The conditions in the Bay have not been fast, but we have been through a lot of different weather systems on this leg and it is incredible that we have got through them all and are here in first place.
"Once again the boys have done a fantastic job - I am always happy but today I am more than happy and I am very proud to be part of this team."
American yacht Pirates of the Caribbean came in at third place with just over 100 miles left to sail when Mike Sanderson's boat crossed the line to win.
