British sailor Ben Ainslie may still be in the Olympics

ben British sailor and twice Olympic champion Ben Ainslie could still take part on behalf of his country in next year's Olympic Games although he is leading the UK in America's Cup challenge.

Ben Ainslie was not selected for the British team for the Olympic Games, however, no other sailor has yet been chosen for the Finn class, which leaves it open.

Team chief for Great Britain Stephen Park was reported to have explained: "I'm speaking regularly with Ben and he wants to compete at the Olympics

"But we don't want Ben to compromise his position with Team Origin in the Cup or with the Olympic team."

Ben Ainslie was last week announced as captain of Britain's Team Origin in the 2009 America's Cup last week, which will be held in Valencia, Spain.

In the past, Ben Ainslie won gold in the Finn class in the Olympics in 2004 and again in the Laser class four years before that.
