Russian rowers could face ban including for the Olympics
Russian rowers are looking at a possible ban from all rowing, and that would mean this year's Olympic Games as well, following further athletes from the country being found guilty of drug offences.
The International Rowing Federation (Fisa) has suspended Anastasia Fatina and Anastasia Karabelshchikova, who are both members of the 2007 Russian women's eight team, and back in 2007, three other members of the Russia team were banned as well.
Last week, Fisa said they are imposing a ban on all Russian officials from participting in any Fisa-sanctioned events for the period of one year.
And a Fisa statement explained: "We may now consider a total ban of the Russian Rowing Federation for a period of up to four years."
Fisa regulations state that officials of any national federation can be suspended if four or more violations of the anti-doping code occur within a year.
Russia now has a total of nine banned sportspeople, taking into that total Olga Samulenkova who received a ban back in 2006.
