Great Britain rower Alan Campbell makes semi-finals at World Rowing Championships
Great Britain's rower Alan Campbell has qualified for the semi-finals of the single sculls at the World Rowing Championships in Eton after he wonTuesday's repechage.
Alan Campbell, who claimed gold in the first World Cup race of the season, had been feeling ill with heavy cold in the heats but he was fit enough in time for the contest.
And Tom James and Colin Smith won their coxless pairs repechage after James had recovered from a respiratory tract infection.
Antonia van Deventer, 28, was another winner in the lightweight single sculls.
She trailed behind France's Coralie Ribeil for most of the race but then caught up and beat her in a sprint finish.
Antonia van Deventer's time of seven minutes and 55.5 seconds was a 10-second improvement on her time in the heats.
"This blows anything I have ever done out of the water," she said.
"The semi-final will be the biggest race of my career but if I keep my head and relax then I have a real chance of making the final," Antonia van Deventer added.
