England's divers leave for Commonwealth Games training camp in Adelaide
England's
diving team of 17 divers are leaving for the Commonwealth Games on
Friday and performance director Steve Foley says they need to take a
professional approach.
The diver's training camp in Adelaide will give the contestants a chance to get used to conditions in Australia.
"We've never had a team this big and it's going to be a real test," Steve Foley said.
"We've told the younger ones they're not just there for experience. It
may be the only Commonwealths they attend. They need to treat it like
no other."
Steve Foley said he thought that the training camp would help with
recovery from jet-lag and getting used to conditions at a really big
event.
"The pool we'll use in Adelaide is a long pool," he said.
"This is important as the diving pit in Melbourne is a massive 75m swimming pool with a double bulkhead.
"Many of the divers won't have experienced a pool of that size before
so to train beforehand in a similar pool will be a great help to them,"
Steve Foley added.
