World Anti-Doping Agency wants more Chinese drug tests
Dick Pound, who is in charge of the World Anti-Doping Agency, has urged China to carry out more doping tests on their athletes than they are currently doing.
China, which is hosting next year's Olympic Games, has been hit by doping scandals over the past years and Dick Pound wants the country to show they are serious about stamping out the problem.
Dick Pound, who is travelling to China next month to meet officials from the Olympic Games organising committee, said: "They're increasing the number of tests but they're not doing as many as they probably should."
Dick Pound added: "We've tried to persuade them they should make this effort because they do have a record which is not generally known or acknowledged in China. But everybody outside of China knows it."
Zhao Jian, head of the Anti-Doping Commission for the Chinese Olympic Committee, said in June that tests this year would increase this year and he admitted: "Yes, there were scandals but we've already learned the lesson and we are making progress."
