Ukrainian heptathlete Lyudmyla Blonska fails doping test
Ukrainian heptathlete and Olympic silver medallist Lyudmyla Blonska could be banned for life after she tested positive for drugs for the second time in five years.
If Blonska's B sample matches her A sample she will be automatically thrown out of the Beijing Olympic Games and lose her silver medal.
30-year-old Blonska had been in trouble for doping in the past and was given a two-year ban in June 2003 when she tested positive for traces of stanozolol.
British contestant Kelly Sotherton came fifth in a competition won by the Ukraine's Nataliia Dobrynska, and Sotherton has denounced Blonska last year.
After Blonska had beaten her to the silver medal in the 2007 world championships in Osaka, Sotherton refused to shake her opponent's hand.
So in the light of all that, Sotherton was not surprised with what has just taken place.
The International Olympic Committee is conducting a disciplinary hearing into Blonska's case and is thought to be reaching a decision on Thursday.
