UK marathon runner Paula Radcliffe confirmed for Olympics
British marathon runner Paula Radcliffe has confirmed that she will be taking part in Sunday's Olympic marathon in the Beijing Games.
Radcliffe's ability to compete had been in some doubt due to injury problems, including a stress fracture she had been suffering from in her leg.
34-year-old Radcliffe reached Beijing on Thursday after travelling from the UK team's training camp in Macau.
Paula Radcliffe is still hoping to win an Olympic medal after she had to retire from the 2004 marathon in Athens because she was dehydrated, and she didn't complete the 10,000m just a few days after that.
Although there had been doubts expressed over her being able to take part in Beijing, Radcliffe has kept an optimistic attitude that she would compete and now she is about to do so.
Earlier this week, whilst still at the training camp Radcliffe said she had completed her best week of training ever and was looking forward to taking part in the Olympics.
