Tennis star Andy Murray confirms the Olympic Games

andy Scottish tennis star Andy Murray has confirmed he will be playing for Great Britain at the Olympic Games in Beijing this summer, although the event is very near to the US Open.

Andy Murray said: "I'm definitely going to play at the Olympics. It's something that not all athletes get the chance to do in their career. It's an honour to represent your country and I'm looking forward to it."

The tennis matches at the Beijing Games are scheduled to end on 17 August, with the US Open due to begin on 27 August so it will be possible for Andy Murray to compete in both events.

Although the Olympic Games have been in the news a lot lately because of all the demonstrations going on and the actions of several high profile people in protest, Andy Murray, 20, is treating the event as somewhere to compete as a sportsman and nothing more than that.

"For me, the Olympics is more about the sport," Andy Murray said.
