Lord Davies questioned over London Olympic stadium
The new Olympic stadium in London is reportedly only expected to have a full house a few times during the 2012 Olympic Games.
Minister Lord Davies, who was speaking to a peer group at the House of Lords, said that the 80,000-seater stadium would only be full for the opening and closing ceremonies and a few of the main events.
Lord Davies had said this in response to being asked why only 68% of seats were to be covered by a roof.
However, Lord Davies also said that the "seating and structures" from the Olympic stadium, which is to be reduced in size after the Olympic Games, could be utilised for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games as well.
In addition, Lord Davies was questioned as to why the roof could not cover all the seats in the Olympic stadium and he responded saying that to his knowledge, there was no international athletics stadium anywhere that has a total roof cover.
