Dutch cyclist Marianne Vos wins Olympic gold
Dutch cyclist Marianne Vos has won an Olympic gold medal in the women's points race after putting on a really impressive display of riding.
21-year-old Vos, who is a world champion, finished on 30 points, in front of Cuban cyclist Yoanka Gonzalez and Spaniard Leire Olaberria.
Marianne Vos was the only contestant to gain 20 points by lapping the field and she has become the first woman from the Netherlands to win the event.
However, in the same race not there were problems for other riders and a crash removed American rider Sarah Hammer, Japanese cyclist Satomi Wadami and German hopeful Verena Jooss.
Vos, who is now the first woman cyclist to have won world championships in road, track and cyclo-cross cycling disciplines, managed to successfully avoid the crash before she went on to claim her first Olympic track gold.
