Chris Hoy selected for the International Olympic Committee
Scottish track cyclist and Olympic Games gold and silver medallist Chris Hoy has been nominated to become part of the International Olympic Committee.
Chris Hoy, 31, who was in the 2005 New Year's Honours list and awarded an MBE for services to cycling, was chosen by the British Olympic Association to run for one of four vacant positions.
Proud of being selected for this, Chris Hoy is reported to have said: "It's never been more important for the voice of athletes to be heard clearly and effectively."
Chris Hoy also went on to explain: "There are many issues facing Olympic athletes, in particular the difficulties surrounding the fight against doping and the transition when your competitive career comes to an end."
Chris Hoy will take part in the team sprint in Beijing after the 1km time trial was dropped from the event.
