China's foreign minister responds to anti-China criticism
China's foreign minister Yang Jiechi has responded to the anti-China campaigners and their criticism in what he sees as an effort to politicise this year's Beijing Olympic Games.
Yang Jiechi said individuals and organisations were doing what they could to spoil China's image.
Recently a number of human rights groups as well as Hollywood celebrities, such as Steven Spielberg, have come forward to make a critical stance against China by withdrawing support for or otherwise condemning China where the Olympics are being staged.
For example, a report by Human Rights Watch has just alleged that migrant workers were being exploited to build a new Beijing.
Sophie Richardson of the American-based group said: "The Chinese government is all talk and no action when it comes to delivering meaningful protection and social services for migrant construction workers."
Beijing has also been condemned for continuing to support the Sudanese government, because campaigners hold them responsible for atrocities in the Darfur region.
However, Yang Jiechi responded saying the "anti-China forces" such as these would be opposed by both Chinese people and the international community and he also said that his country would be glad to receive "suggestion and criticism out of good will".
