American sprinter Tyson Gay says he is ready for the Beijing
American sprinter Tyson Gay has played down worries over his fitness and he is getting set for the 100m contest at the Beijing Olympics.
25-year-old Gay had strained a hamstring whilst taking part in the US trials in July but he has said confidently: "When I step on the line in Beijing, don't worry, I'll be ready to go."
World record holder Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, and his compatriot Asafa Powell along with Tyson Gay are all expected to compete for the gold medal in the final on 16 August.
Gay, who celebrates his birthday on Saturday, instead of going to the American track team's training camp in Dalian chose to do his training in Munich.
Gay got to Beijing on Tuesday and was there in time to be part of the opening ceremony that took place on Friday.
