World records set at British Short Course Swimming Championships
Fifteen world records were broken at the Nationwide British Short Course Swimming Championships in Sheffield and these record-setting performances were a boost to Britain's squad in their final event before the World Championships.
Danielle Watts set two of the new records, when she completed the 200m Freestyle (SM1) in six minutes 10.65 seconds and the S1 50m Freestyle in 1:22.59 and Daniel English also set a new world record of 1:30.30 in the 100m Individual Medley (SM11).
There were also new world records in the relay events with the Scottish men's 4x50m Free (20 points) team winning gold in a time of 3:21.27 and these were followed by the Scottish women's team, who finished the 4x100m Free relay (34 points) in new world best of 5:32.37.
Other noteworthy individual displays included Nyree Lewis who won the 400m freestyle (S6) and Matt Walker who swam the S7 50m freestyle in 28.25 secs breaking rival David Robert's old record.
The World Championships will be held in Durban from 2-7 December.
