Wheelchair tennis player Peter Norfolk wins at the Japan Open
British wheelchair tennis player Peter Norfolk looks set to reach the top of the world rankings again after an incredible win in the quad main draw singles final of the Japan Open.
Peter Norfolk beat Tzu-Hsuan Huang of Chinese Taipei 6-2 6-0 to claim a third straight Super Series title in Japan, which is the equivalent of a Grand Slam.
"We had a few long rallies in the first set but after that I changed my tactics and focus," Peter Norfolk said.
"I'm very pleased with the win and to go back to world number one."
But it wasn't such a successful day for British number one Jayant Mistry, from Loughborough, in the men's main draw doubles final.
Jayant Mistry teamed up with Japanese hotly-tipped Shingo Kunieda but the couple were edged 6-4 6-4 by top seeds Michael Jeremiasz from France and Japanese player Satoshi Saida.
Jayant Mistry and Peter Norfolk both return to the UK for the National Wheelchair Tennis Championships which start in Gloucester on 26 May.
