UK Athletics appoint Martin Colclough as disability performance manager
UK Athletics has chosen and appointed Martin Colclough as its new
senior performance manager for disability sport and the 44-year-old, a
major in the British Army's physical training corps, takes up his new
role in January 2006.
"To be involved in sport at a world class level has been a long held ambition," said Martin Colclough.
"This job'll be a significant challenge but with my background in
performance, it's one I'm equipped for and one I am looking forward to
with great relish".
After a long recruitment process, UK Athletics performance director
Dave Collins was in no doubt that they had chosen the right man for the
job.
"Martin went through a very long and detailed interview process, which
has seen us consider almost 50 candidates from all over the world,"
Dave Collins said.
"In appointing Martin we have rejected some excellent individuals, but
he has demonstrated not only his considerable skills in leadership and
administration but also his potential to grow in, and with, disability
athletics.
"In short, a first-rate man who will be able to provide and support the
world class focus for disability athletes in the performance pathway."
