Paralympian Nathan Stephens qualifies for World Championships

nathanstephens.jpgParalympian Nathan Stephens has qualified for the World Championships because of how well he did at the National Junior Athletics Championships in Blackpool.

Nathan Stephens won the javelin, discus and shot, with DSE national junior records in all three events and his throw of 11.73m in the shot has put him in line for a place at the World event in Holland in September.

Wheelchair racer Mickey Bushell also set national junior marks when he won the under-17 100, 200 and 400m events.

Dean Miller made the World Championship standard for the 800m in the T37 category with a national junior record of two minutes 19.2 seconds and Athens 2004 Paralympian Steven Leigh collected a pair of titles by winning the under-20 400m in 58.1 seconds and the 200m in 27.1 seconds.

Besides these, sprinter Katrina Hart, who had taken bronze at last year's European Open Athletics Championships in Finland, won the under-17 100 and 200m.
