Disabled sprinter Oscar Pistorius disappointed with comeback
Double amputee sprinter and Paralympic 400m runner Oscar Pistorius took fourth place when he made his comeback to track action in Milan on Wednesday.
It was the South African disabled runner's first able-bodied race for nearly a year, and it was his first race since he was given the go ahead to compete against able-bodied athletes at the Beijing Olympics.
21-year-old Pistorius hopes to take part in the Beijing Games but his time of 47.78 seconds was nowhere near the 45.55 qualifying standard and it left him feeling admittedly "disappointed."
Pistorius had only started training again six weeks ago after winning his appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in May. He was arguing that his prosthetic legs did not give him an unfair advantage.
Oscar Pistorius will make a last bid at qualifying when he races in Lucerne, Switzerland on 16 July.
The South African selectors have put off announcing their Olympic Games team until 17 July to give him the best chance of making the grade to be included.
