David Weir and Shelly Woods for London Marathon wheelchair race
Disabled athletes and defending champions David Weir and Shelly Woods are both high on the list of contestants for this year's London Marathon wheelchair race, which is due to take place on Sunday 13 April.
Both David Weir and Shelly Woods are going to take part at the Beijing Paralympics, and they will be hoping to win record prize money in this year's event - the winners of both the men's and women's races stand to win $15,000 (£7,500).
Australian Kurt Fearnley, who finished one second behind David Weir in second place last year, will be racing again, and Shelly Woods will have to face American Amanda McGrory.
David Weir said happily: "I am delighted to be racing in London again. London was already one of the most important races of the year for me, but the greater profile will help to make it one of the most sought-after titles for all elite wheelchair athletes."
