Britain's top disabled athletes hope for success in Assen

davidweir Britain's top disabled athletes are all hoping for a successful performance at the IPC World Athletics Championships in Assen, Holland, which commence on Sunday.

UK Athletics has named a 46-strong team of both experienced athletes and newcomers for the event, however, distance runner Noel Thatcher and javelin thrower Pauline Latto have been forced to withdraw.

Wheelchair racer Dave Weir, who won this year's London Marathon is expected to be a potential winner having been in top form on the track, and breaking world records in the T54 200 and 400m as well as winning gold in the 1500m event at the European Championships in Helsinki.

David Weir is entered for the T54 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and the marathon, as well as the 4x100m wheelchair race relay but will be delaying his final decision on which events he will take part in until just before the championships.
