Portugal's Luis Figo to play against England Portugal skipper Luis Figo has been allowed to play in Saturday's World Cup quarter-final against England after Fifa ruled out any further disciplinary action for a headbutt to Holland's Mark van Bommel.
Luis Figo had been booked for the incident and, because referee Valentin Ivanov took action, Fifa will not intervene.
Coach Luis Felipe Scolari is also hoping that midfielder Deco, 28, will be available for the match.
Deco was sent off for two yellow cards in the 1-0 win but Luis Felipe Scolari has urged the Portuguese Football Federation to appeal against the first booking.
Deco went into the book for lunging at Holland defender John Heitinga after Holland had refused to return the ball, although Portugal had kicked it out of play because of an injury.
And Luis Felipe Scolari said: "The Federation could send a letter to Fifa because of the first yellow card.
"The ball was ours, we had possession but the Dutch player was told by his coach to continue playing.
"There should be fair-play guidelines from Fifa and the time has come for them to think about this."
The return of Deco, as well as Luis Figo's reprieve for the game ahead, would be a huge boost for Portugal.
