Holland coach Marco van Basten confident team will be fit for World Cup opener
Holland coach Marco van Basten is confident that all the injured football players in his team will be fit enough for their World Cup opener against Serbia and Montenegro.
Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart and Gio van Bronckhorst have been recovering from ankle injuries and Philip Cocu had a thigh problem.
But Marco Van Basten said: "Van der Vaart had his second training session with the squad and was fine.
"Sneijder made good progress and will not be a problem for Sunday."
Rafael Van der Vaart and Gio Van Bronckhorst joined in the team training session on Thursday but Wesley Sneijder and Philip Cocu trained separately.
Both Wesley Sneijder and Philip Cocu are expected to be named in Holland's starting line-up on Sunday.
Marco Van Basten put midfielders Nigel de Jong and Stijn Schaars on standby but will make a decision on who he is keeping on Friday.
