Argentina boss Jose Pekerman expects no easy victory over Mexico Argentina boss Jose Pekerman expects his team to use the momentum from the group stages to beat Mexico and qualify for the World Cup quarter-finals.
"The game against Mexico will be tough but we have a lot of ambition in this team and we want to keep going," Jose Pekerman said.
"The team will go into the match with the same winning attitude as before.
"It will be a good match. They will be strong opponents. But this is the World Cup so every game is difficult," Jose Pekerman added.
Argentina and Mexico have only played against each other once before in the World Cup in the inaugural tournament in 1930 in Uruguay and Argentina were the winners 6-3 but Jose Pekerman is not underestimating a Mexico side under the leadership of Argentinean Ricardo La Volpe.
"I have a positive image of Mexico," said Jose Pekerman. "They are high in the Fifa rankings and played well at the Confederations Cup last year.
"Mexico are always able to score goals. They are technically skilled and highly competitive team.
"No team can ever believe that Mexico is not a strong rival."
