San José State University women's soccer team hope to repeat their success

The Spartans, the San José State University women's soccer team, looks all set to build on their first win of 2005 with a pair of league games this week. The Spartans are continuing the 2005 Western Athletic Conference slate with a pair of games in the week ahead, and both are against teams, which they have never played before.

The Spartans first host Utah State on Friday, October 14, in a match beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Spartan Stadium. They then fly to Ruston, La., on Saturday, to take on Louisiana Tech on Sunday, October 16, at 12:00 p.m. Both Utah State and Louisiana Tech are newcomers to the WAC this season, with Louisiana Tech's program in just its second year of existence.

The Spartans got their first win of 2005 on Sunday, October 9, beating Idaho, 2-0, in its WAC home opener inside the Spartan Stadium. The Spartans scored first in a game for the sixth time this season, and were able to hang on for the duration of the whole match. Freshmen Liz Behlen and Jennifer Guadagnolo were the goal scorers.
