Sir Alex Ferguson says Ronaldo will stay at Manchester
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson maintains that Cristiano Ronaldo will be staying with his current club and that all talk about him moving is just rumour.
And Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has agreed they will not be chasing him any longer.
Real Madrid had been reported as interested in Ronaldo throughout the summer, but they have signed Rafael van der Vaart, and their boss said: "Van der Vaart is the first and possibly the only signing of the summer for Real Madrid."
Calderon had admitted in the past that he wanted to sign Ronaldo, but it now appears that the Spanish club has given up when faced with Manchester United's refusal to sell him.
Ronaldo is signed to Manchester United until 2012 under his current deal although he had been reported as interested in a move to Real Madrid.
Alex Ferguson said though: "The matter is closed now. He is a Manchester United player - it's finished."
