Middlesbrough footballer Mido gets 3-match ban
Middlesbrough footballer Mido has been given a three-match suspension following the decision by referee Mark Halsey who has said that Mido's red card, which he received for his behaviour at Arsenal, will not be rescinded.
Striker Mido had been punished with a straight red card because he was seen to kick Gael Clichy in the face towards the end of the match that ended in a draw. Gael Clichy had a cut on his head from the kick.
Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate had talked to referee's chief Keith Hackett about the matter, but they have decided not to put in an appeal to the FA over the decision to ban Mido.
However, Gareth Southgate thinks that Mido had not meant to hurt Gael Clichy but had been aiming for the ball and he said: "I don't think he meant it. He caught him but he was looking at the ball the whole time and Mido is distraught because he's not a dirty player."
Mido will now have to miss home games with Derby and Manchester United and an away match to Chelsea.
