Manchester United's Wayne Rooney expected fit

wayne rooneyFootball star Wayne Rooney is expected to have recovered well enough to play in England's next two World Cup qualifiers.

Striker Rooney had hurt his ankle during Manchester United's 3-0 Champions League away win at Aalborg on Tuesday and had to be taken of the pitch on a stretcher.

Because of his injury, 22-year-old Rooney is a doubtful player for Manchester United's Premier League match against Blackburn on Saturday, but it is thought he will be fit enough to be included in Fabio Capello's England team.

England host Kazakhstan on 11 October and then fly out to Belarus four days after that.

A statement on the Manchester United website says: "Wayne has an ankle injury and is doubtful for Saturday, but he should recover in time for England's forthcoming matches."

Manchester boss Sir Alex Ferguson is pleased that Rooney is not more seriously hurt and can play again soon because the team is already without 33-year-old Paul Scholes for 10 weeks, who is also injured.
