Liverpool to appeal against Javier Mascherano's ban
Liverpool Football Club have said they will be appealing against the extended two-match ban given to their midfielder Javier Mascherano by the Football Association.
Javier Mascherano had been found guilty of improper conduct following his dismissal at Manchester United on 23 March. Javier Mascherano was suspended for two extra games as well as getting a £15,000 fine, and because of this, he is banned from playing in the league match against Arsenal on Saturday.
A statement by the club reads: "We have appealed and requested the penalty not be set aside pending the outcome."
Javier Mascherano looked as if he had had a problem with referee Steve Bennett's decision to caution Fernando Torres at Old Trafford and it was then that he was shown a second yellow card.
Javier Mascherano at first refused to leave the game but he has since admitted he was in the wrong and issued an apology via the Daily Mail newspaper that said: "I made a mistake and I regret this mistake. It was my fault. I apologise to everyone."
