Czech goalkeeper Petr Cech signs 5-year deal with Chelsea
Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech has signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea that means he will stay with the club until 2013.
26-year-old Cech had earlier in May been rumoured to be moving elsewhere but now he has put an end to all such speculation.
Petr Cech said on the Chelsea website: "It is an honour to be at a club like Chelsea and I am happy to have renewed my contract. Chelsea has grown in my heart, not just because of my team-mates and all the people that work for the club but also because of their fantastic fans."
Cech originally joined Chelsea from the French side Rennes for £7m in 2004 and since then he has made 166 appearances for the London team.
Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is really happy that Cech is staying with the club and said: "I am delighted that Petr has signed a new contract. In my view he is the best goalkeeper in the world, so I am very pleased that he will remain with me at Chelsea."
