Cristiano Ronaldo confirms he is staying with Manchester
 Football star Cristiano Ronaldo has said that he will stay on with Manchester United for another year at least and has confirmed what Sir Alex Ferguson had said.
The Manchester United boss had been reported as claiming that Ronaldo was remaining with the team.
23-year-old Ronaldo had often said he wanted to leave to join the Spanish club Real Madrid this summer but he is quoted in Portuguese news paper Publico as saying: "Manager Sir Alex Ferguson heard my arguments, I heard his and it was felt the best thing would be for me to stay.
"I can confirm that next season I will play for Manchester United."
Ferguson has said how delighted he is that the matter is now closed and that Ronaldo is remaining with Manchester United.
Ronaldo is actually under contract with Manchester United until 2012, but he is currently sidelined while he recovers from an operation on an ankle injury.
