Celtic sign ex-Manchester United captain Roy Keane
Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane will end weeks of debate by signing for Celtic on Thursday.
34-year-old midfielder Roy Keane is understood to be at Celtic Park and
is expected to be unveiled at a news conference at 1330 GMT.
Roy Keane's representative Michael Kennedy said the Republic of Ireland
international has agreed to join the club he has always supported and
Roy Keane is set to become the best-paid player in Celtic's history.
It is believed that a portion of the 34-year-old's salary will be paid
directly by the Parkhead club's major shareholder Dermot Desmond.
Roy Keane is not eligible to play until the winter transfer window
opens, so the first match he could feature in would be the 1 January
visit to Hearts.
The former Nottingham Forest midfielder has been much in demand since leaving Manchester United in November.
Spanish giants Real Madrid were said to be the front-runners for Roy
Keane's signature but president Florentino Perez was not prepared to
make a move until January. And premiership duo Bolton and Everton had
approached Roy Keane, while West Brom and West Ham were among other
clubs to express their interest in signing him.
