Football Association reveals new plan for England
The Football Association (FA) is reported to have announced plans to invest as much as £200m into football in England as part of its new five-year National Game Strategy.
The FA had conducted a survey of the opinions of some 37,000 people involved in the sport, and has been doing this research in the hopes of improving standards in four particular areas.
The FA wants to get more people playing football, wants to improve facilities and is willing to fund skills and coaching in the sport.
The FA is putting priority on to recruiting more referees because almost a third of football matches are played without one in attendance.
On its Internet site the FA have stated: "We will work to address the critically high numbers of referees dropping out every season because of abuse, as well as providing more support in recruiting and retaining referees."
As well as this the FA are hoping to improve the behaviour of footballers towards match officials.
