Cyclist Chris Hoy annoyed by politicians
Cyclist Chris Hoy, who recently won gold at the Olympics, has had enough of politicians, who he feels have tried to "cash in" on his success.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown had spoken of Hoy whilst making a speech at a CBI Scotland dinner on Thursday.

Newcastle footballer Joey Barton faces Football Association hearing
Newcastle footballer Joey Barton is due before a Football Association hearing on Friday on an assault charge.
26-year-old Barton had already pleaded guilty to the charge of violent conduct against team-mate Ousmane Dabo and had asked for a personal hearing.

English batsman Michael Vaughan's bad luck continues
Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan has continued his run of bad luck by a disappointing performance for Yorkshire in their game against Sussex at Scarborough in which Yorkshire closed 132 behind Sussex at 133-7.
Batsman Vaughan, who had unfortunately for him only scored 10 and 0 in his last match, hit three fours and was dropped.

Usain Bolt, Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell to race in Belgium
Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt will be racing against compatriot Asafa Powell and American Tyson Gay at the Van Damme Memorial in Belgium this Friday.
Powell has just claimed the second-fastest 100m time ever and between them, the three top sprinters have the 10 fastest times ever that have been recorded at the distance.

Boxer Ricky Hatton to be trained by Floyd Mayweather Sr
British boxer Ricky Hatton has announced that Floyd Mayweather Sr will be his trainer for his next fight, which is against Paulie Malignaggi in Las Vegas on 22 November.
Floyd Mayweather Jr defeated Hatton in 2007 and is the only fighter to have done so, but now his father will be in charge of training his past opponent. 55-year-old Mayweather Sr is travelling to Manchester later in September.

Racing car driver Dario Franchitti goes back to Indycar
Scottish racing driver Dario Franchitti has decided to leave Nascar and go back to IndyCar next year as a replacement for Dan Wheldon at Chip Ganassi Racing.
35-year-old Franchitti claimed the title for the 2007 IndyCar Series championship and the Indianapolis 500, however, he then changed over to Nascar for this year and he said he had really enjoyed his time there but doesn't want to miss out on a new opportunity.

Tennis star Andy Murray wants to win again at the US Open
Scottish tennis star Andy Murray is even more intent on winning again at the US Open after he defeated Juan Martin del Potro and qualified for the last four.
21-year-old Murray won in four sets and has got through to his first Grand Slam semi-final in which he will play against Rafael Nadal.

Troubled boxer Scott Harrison gets 8-months sentence
Troubled British boxer Scott Harrison has been sentenced to a total of eight months for drinking and driving as well as assaulting his girlfriend.
31-year-old Harrison was given six months after he pleaded guilty to driving while four times over the legal alcohol limit.
