Welsh rugby star Gavin Henson is still recovering
Welsh rugby star and Ospreys centre player Gavin Henson is going to have to miss the beginning of the new season because he is still recovering from an operation he had.
26-year-old Henson had ankle surgery at the end of April after he was injured in the Heineken Cup quarter-final when his team were defeated by the Saracens.
Gavin Henson had hoped to have recovered in time for the new season but his side say he is unlikely to be able to return to the action until the end of September at the earliest
Physiotherapist Chris Towers explained that Henson still needs and is in a walking plaster, which is due to be removed on 10 July, but otherwise he is making a good recovery from his injury and operation.
Gavin Henson has already taken longer to get better than at first was expected, but it is clear that he must not be rushed back and will have to wait it out to recover full fitness.
