Warren Gatland to be new Wales rugby coach
Warren Gatland has been named as Wales' new rugby coach and has signed a four-year contract, which means he will be in the role until the end of the 2011 World Cup.
A delighted Warren Gatland is reported to have said: "I feel tremendous pride in coaching Wales and gratitude at the chance to work at the highest level."
Warren Gatland, 44, will begin his new job on 1 December, having been lured away from working with Waikato in New Zealand.
Wales have not had a rugby coach since they sacked Gareth Jenkins following being knocked out of the World Cup by Fiji at the end of September.
Caretaker Nigel Davies will be temporarily in charge of the Welsh squad for the 24 November Test with South Africa, which is being played in Cardiff.
Warren Gatland, who played as a hooker for New Zealand 17 times between 1988 and 1991, was on a shortlist of three foreign coaches being considered by the Welsh Rugby Union.
