South African rugby star Schalk Burger in trouble
South African rugby star Schalk Burger may be out of Friday's World Cup match with England after getting into trouble for a dangerous tackle in his team's win against Samoa.
Schalk Burger, 24, who plays as flanker, escaped action at the time but he now faces a disciplinary hearing.
Because of this problem over Schalk Burger, coach Jake White has had to delay naming his team for the game in St Denis, although he has chosen a squad instead.
Schalk Burger was named world player of the year in 2004 but he was forced to miss half of the 2006 season after he seriously injured his neck and had to have two vertebrae fused together.
After he was ruled out at the time, the Springboks lost their next five matches so now it would be a huge blow to South Africa again if Schalk Burger were unable to play.
