Santiago Phelan named as rugby coach for Argentina's Pumas
Retired Argentina international rugby player Santiago Phelan has been announced as the new coach of the Pumas.
Santiago Phelan, 34, who has already coached Buenos Aires teams CASI and Argentina A, will be the replacement for Marcelo Loffreda who went to Leicester after the World Cup.
Santiago Phelan's first matches in charge will be the two-Test series at home to Scotland, beginning on 7 June, and Santiago Phelan said: "They are important Tests and we must approach them with the preparation they deserve."
Argentina's Pumas are currently ranked third in the world after an excellent World Cup performance last year that saw them take third place.
Santiago Phelan explained some of his immediate plans and added: "There are a lot of players who are near the end of their career and who surely won't play at the next World Cup. I'll talk to each of them, as they deserve, to see what they want to do. Then, I'll evaluate what's best for the team."
