Rugby star Sonny Bill Williams admits booze problem
Canterbury and New Zealand rugby star Sonny Bill Williams has admitted he has a problem with drinking following two incidents this season, and the latest of these saw him fined for urinating in a public place after he left a nightclub in Cronulla.
Sonny Bill Williams, 21, said: "I've let a lot of people down over the last couple of months, particularly myself," and he added: "The bad publicity that I've had has been alcohol related.
"I'll be seeking professional help with regards to alcohol."
Sonny Bill Williams arrived on the international rugby scene in 2004 with a series of impressive performances for New Zealand but he has since suffered a list of injuries as well as the off-field problems.
Sonny Bill Williams is now refraining from drinking alcoholic drinks and will seek professional counselling he says.
"I'll be seeking professional help with regards to alcohol and until myself and the club feel this is under control I'll be off the drink."
Sonny Bill Williams has been cautioned by Canterbury Bulldogs that his future at the club could be under threat if there is any more trouble.
