Rugby star Jonah Lomu rejects league switch
Former New Zealand international rugby star Jonah Lomu has rejected an offer to change codes and play rugby league for the new NRL club Gold Coast Titans next season.
Jonah Lomu, 31, who won 73 All Black caps, needed a kidney transplant in 2004 but recently had a spell playing for Cardiff.
Jonah Lomu was offered a one-year deal by the Gold Coast Titans but has chosen to stay in rugby union.
"We understand and respect the decision Jonah has made and wish him all the best in rugby and in life," said Gold Coast Titans chief executive Michael Searle.
"Both Jonah and his wife Fiona have been a pleasure to deal with and we look forward to having them as guests of the Titans at an NRL game in the near future," Michael Searle added.
Jonah Lomu made his return to the action in 2005 after recovering from his kidney problem, but any hopes of getting a place in the All Blacks squad were finished when he failed to win a contract with any of New Zealand's five teams for 2007.
